WEEK IN SYDNEY... continued!

After our workshop on Monday with Csaba, Miss Emma and I did an evening class at Sydney Dance Company. We did Lyrical with Dale Pope! She is amazing! So nice! If you ever get a chance to do her class i REALLY recommend it!

Our routine was based on a women being like a puppet and a man was controlling her to her death.. very different but such a fantastic and unique concept!

DALE POPE

Lyrical Jazz

Dale Pope is one of the senior teachers at Sydney Dance Company specialising in Lyrical Jazz. With a full career encompassing training at the New Zealand School of Performing Arts, 2x NZ Representative for International Aerobics Championships, performing with Kylie Minogue, Marica Hines, kd lang, and Caroline O’Connor, entertaining royalty – Queen Elizabeth, Prince Edward and the King and Queen of Sweden and most recently dancing in the movie Mao’s Last Dancer, Dale now focuses on her nationwide children’s dance fitness program RED (Raw Energy Dance), teaching and choreographing. Dale is choreographer to Bindi Irwin on Bindi Kid Fitness DVD #1 and #2, Bindi the Jungle Girl TV and DVD series, Bindi and the Crocmen Live Shows, G’day USA Tour 2007 (a career highlight was seeing her work on the New York City Centre stage in front of a 3000 strong audience), Bindi’s music video clip ‘Trouble in the Jungle’ and the Steve Irwin Day release ‘My Dad’. Dale is also NSW State Choreographer and invited International Tour Choreographer for the Australian Girls Choir (of the Qantas Ad fame) and National Dance Co-ordinator for Aus Girls Dance. Dale’s work has been performed on stages in Paris, Rome, Prague, New York and Sydney’s Opera House, but her greatest enjoyment to date has been found working with indigenous children throughout Cape York and Torres Straight Islands.

WOW!! How good was 'So you think you can dance" on Sunday night!! I sat there absolutly BLOWN AWAY!! The opening routine was FANTASTIC!!!!! I was speechless!!!

CONGRATULATIONS CHARLIE!! Runner up!!! What a fantastic job??!!!! You have come so so far!! Charlie has just showed all of us that you are not disadvantaged AT ALL by being a dancer in the country! He has proved ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!! SO REACH FOR THE STARS!! With hard work, passion and dedication you can do anything!! I hope you all are as inspired as i am!!

And Congratulations Talia! only 18 years of age!!!! WOW! she has grown so much throughout the show! A shy ballet girl now australias favourite dancer!

WELCOME BACK

Hi All,

WOW! How fast do the holidays go! So we are back to classes as of yesterday! It was so good to see all your smiling faces and hear about your holiday stories! Yes! I think orange winter is here! so remember to come to dance prepared! keep warm! make sure you wear warm clothes to and from dance! The hall does get VERY cold so it is esential that you make it to class on time so you dont miss out on warm up!!

And no, Miss Leesa hasnt had her little prince as yet!! dont worry as soon as i know, you will no!!!

CSABA SZIRMAI

Csaba has wealth of Hip Hop, Funk, Salsa, Ballroom, Break dance, Acrobatics and Latin dance knowledge. Of Hungarian and English heritage, Csaba has been dancing since the age of 11! His knowledge of dance forms such as hip hop and funk puts him at the cutting edge of Latin dance and makes him a valuable addition to the Latin Motion team. THE BEGINING OF SYDNEY WORKSHOP JOURNEY....

Hi All!! I hope you are all having a FANTASTIC break and had a wonderful easter!!!
WOW! what a week! Miss Emma and I have been in Syndey at the Australian Dance Vision (ADV)workshop! We both are now 'train' experts! If you have any questions about catching a train in the city just ask us!! hehe!

Here is Part A of our journey!

Monday morning we were up bright early to catch the train from Central to Pymble!We were there with over an hour to spare! (better to be safe than sorry)! the wait was well worth it! We had the privledge of doing a Hip Hop workshop with Csaba Szirmai from dancing with the stars! It was FANTASTIC!!!! He was so lovley and funny! You would be pleased to know that even Csaba forgets the chorey and mixes up the counts!
We did a routine of half lyrical HH to Halo by beyonce and "old school" HH (so Csaba says) to Siera JT!We were so very lucky as there was ONLY 5 in the class!!! YEAH! almost a private lesson!!! Miss Emma has all the photos so stay tuned for the EXCLUSIVE photos!

In the mean time enjoy reading a bio of the wonderful Csaba! (if you are wondering how to pronounce his name.. it is Cubbba....we thought it was more along the lines of Casber!)

MISS STEPH ON THE WAY TO RECOVERY

Hi All!

I visited Miss Steph last week expecting the worst! But Miss Steph is doing fabulous!! She is walking around (with a limp ofcourse) but is on the road to recovery!

Miss Steph sends a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who signed the "best wishes" card!! It certainly made her day!!

EMAN AND PANIA PERFORM AT HOTEL ORANGE

Miss Steph, Miss Katherine and I went to Hotel Orange to watch Eman and Pania perform. The routine was lovely! A Lyrical Hip Hop piece. The Hotel Orange was packed with people waiting to see and meet Eman and Pania.

Pania was so lovely! She remembered Miss Steph and Miss Katherine from the workshop earlier that day. We asked her questions about the show..

Miss Rachel: "How did you keep going! You must have been in so much pain from how hard you were working"
Pania: "It was just something i love doing, you know when you love something so much it just keeps you going and going no matter what"

Miss Rachel: "Were the judges as nice as they seem"
Pania: "oh yes! backstage they are so great!"

Pania: "you guys just have to audition!!! it is the most amazing experience ever! JUST AUDITION!!!"

There you go everyone! From pania, if your thinking of auditioning for SYTYCD 2010!! DO IT!

"Miss Katherine, Jaqui & I were extremely excited about taking the Hip hop workshop. Eman took the guys to do a break dancing workshop, while Pania and Dave took the girls to do a hip hop workshop.Pania started off with some warm ups, before she got us into a very funky routine.At the end of the workshop we showcased our hip hop routine to all the parents and guys doing breakdancing. Then after the guys showed us their break dancing moves. When it was all over Eman and Pania came around and had photos with everyone and had a chat about the show. They are very lovely, friendly down to earth people. Everyone had a fun afternoon"

Some of you have been lucky enough to have Miss Steph and Miss Katherine teach you Paina's routine! i can't wait to see it!

WHERE DOES THE TIME GO??

Hi Everyone!!!
WOW! What a term!!! Can you believe we are in our final week of dance for term 1! We have had such a fantastic term, welcoming back our old friends and so excited to meet new faces to the stepping out team!
We have also had the opportunity to welcome our 2 new teachers Miss Steph and Miss Katherine! You guys have done such a fantastic job! and we are so happy to have you sharing your love of dance!

Miss Leesa is just looking so gorgeous!! very soon we will be welcoming a very special little person into this world!!! and we just cant wait!!!!! Stay tuned for updates!!!!!!!

Miss Emma and I will be off to Sydney next week to take part in a week workshop! We will also be taking extra classes at Sydney Dance Company! so look out term 2!

So remember that classes for this term finish on Thursday 9th April and we will be returning Monday 27th April!! (so no classes this Saturday)
